SUBJECT:
REDUCTION IN PRESUMPTIVE ELIGIBILITY INCOME LIMIT
FAMILY HEALTHCARE MANUAL REVISION #26: SECTION 0950.000.00
DISCUSSION:
The Presumptive Eligibility for Children Program allows children to receive medical care before they have formally applied for MC+, when it has been determined that their family income is below the state’s Medicaid or Non-Premium CHIP limit. Missouri Senate Bill 539 (2005) reduced the income limit for Non-Premium CHIP groups from 225% to 150% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). As a result of the reduction in the income limit that Missouri’s MC+ Program covers without a waiting period, effective September 1, 2005, the income limit for presumptive eligibility is reduced to 150% of the FPL.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
- Effective September 1, 2005, determine eligibility for the Presumptive Eligibility for Children Program based on the income limit of 150% of the FPL.
