DISCUSSION:
Food Stamp Manual section 1140.005.15 Reduction in the Number of Hours Worked by an ABAWD EU Member is revised. The revision is made to clarify policy regarding the action to take when an ABAWD reports a reduction in hours. Impose a sanction for voluntary job quit or work effort reduction regardless of the number of non-work months used by an EU member. Explore voluntary job quit or work effort reduction even if the EU member is sanctioned for not meeting ABAWD work requirements.
If a work effort reduction or voluntary job quit occurs the eligibility specialist must explore “good cause”. If “good cause” is not found, sanction the EU member. If the work effort reduction or voluntary job quit does not apply, record the non-work months.
