DISCUSSION:
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the modern Food Stamp Program, the nation’s first line of defense against hunger. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) has produced a 14 minute video about the Food Stamp Program commemorating the reforms achieved, and telling how food stamps dramatically reduced and virtually eliminated severe hunger in the United States. This video is also a tribute to the work that eligibility specialists, supervisors, and managers do each day to help Americans in need.
The video is posted on the CBPP web page at http://www.cbpp.org/foodstamp-video.htm. County managers should use this video when talking with their legislators about the excellent work done by the Family Support Division staff or share with other community partners as appropriate.
