DISCUSSION:
Income Maintenance Memorandum IM-#21 dated 03/14/05, introduced policy regarding income from military pay for deployment to a designated combat zone. There is no change in policy and procedures; however, there are changes to the areas designated as combat zones.
Somalia is added, and Turkey (including Incirlik AFB) is ended effective December 31, 2005.
FAMIS will continue to take the following action when income source Deployment to Combat Zone (MD) is entered on the Income (FMX0) screen:

The Designated Combat Zone Chart is developed to assist staff in determining the locations of deployment for members of the United States Armed Forces who receive additional military payments. The chart includes the Executive Order, Direct Support, or Public Law declaring the areas as combat zones, locations, and the effective beginning and ending dates for the combat zones. If there is no end date, the area continues to be a designated combat zone.
