SUBJECT: | FAMIS FAMILY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE REINVESTIGATIONS; FA402 |
DISCUSSION:
Effective July 15, 2007, FAMIS will begin sending Medicaid/MC+ eligibility reinvestigation forms (FA402) for Family Medical Assistance cases in FAMIS that are due for an annual reinvestigation and have not had a reinvestigation completed by a food stamp application or recertification. This begins with the reinvestigations that are due to be completed by August 31, 2007.
FAMIS will send the FA402 Family Medical Assistance reinvestigation form the 15th day of the month prior to the month the reinvestigation is due. The reinvestigation form will have a due date of the first day of the month the reinvestigation is due. An alert is generated at the time the reinvestigation form is mailed to the eligibility unit. The alert continues to display until the reinvestigation action is taken in the system.
Family Medical Assistance reinvestigations are processed in the same manner as Temporary Assistance reinvestigations. Refer to the Completing a Temporary Assistance Reinvestigation in FAMIS User Guide for assistance in processing.
If the reinvestigation form is not returned by the due date, the eligibility specialist must initiate an Adverse Action Worker Close (AAWC), with a reason “REI” failed to return the rein form. FAMIS will close the case when the adverse action expires and send the closing notice.
FAMIS is currently working on a redesign of the Temporary Assistance/Medical Assistance reinvestigation process that will be implemented in the near future. New reinvestigation user guides will be provided at that time.NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with all appropriate staff.
- Complete Family Medical Assistance reinvestigations as required.
