- SUBJECT:
- CAREER ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (CAP) LOCATIONS
DISCUSSION:
Division of Workforce Development (DWD) renegotiated Career Assistance Program (CAP) contracts effective July 1, 2008. As a result there are changes in the locations of CAP agencies throughout the state.
Because some CAP agencies have closed as a result of the renegotiated contracts, some Temporary Assistance applicants may have to travel farther than normal to comply with Immediate Engagement. FSD staff has the ability to enter an Immediate Engagement good cause code if the individual claims the distance to a CAP agency would cause a hardship. Eligibility Specialists can enter a good cause code of 03, breakdown in transportation, on the TA Work Requirement (COMPACT/FM8B) screen in the Compliance/Good Cause field. It is not necessary for the Eligibility Specialist to contact the CAP case manager in these instances. See Section 0205.065.10 for a complete list of good cause reasons for Immediate Engagement.
Below is a short summary of the CAP regional location changes:
West Central:
- Closed Carroll County in Carrollton
- Closed Cedar County in Eldorado Springs
- Closed St. Clair County in Osceola
- Changed days Bates and Hickory counties are open

A current list of Career Assistance Program (CAP) Locations is available at http://dssweb/fsd/programs/temporaryassistance/information/cap/index.htm, which can be found under the Resource Links on Family Support Division's Temporary Assistance Intranet site.
Family Support Division (FSD) staff should provide Temporary Assistance applicants/participants with a copy of the CAP agency(ies) in their area and circle the location nearest to them. If mandatory applicants/participants want to visit a CAP agency outside of their area, give them a statewide CAP listing.
