DISCUSSION:
Effective January 28, 2013, FAMIS will no longer require a Food Stamp interview be scheduled within 5 days of entering the application unless the application is delinquent. If an application is entered with less than 10 days remaining before it is due, FAMIS will only allow 5 days to schedule interview.
Timeframes to issue benefits have not changed. It is very important interviews are scheduled to meet application timeliness deadlines and to allow the applicant 10 days to provide needed verification. Food Stamp benefits have to be available as follows:
- Expedited benefits and the EBT card must be issued and available to the EU within 7 days of the application being filed.
- Non-expedited benefits and the EBT card must be issued as soon as possible, but not later than the 30th day after the application is filed.
The FAMIS Questions and Answers (Q&A) has been revised.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff
