DISCUSSION:
This memorandum introduces revisions to the Income Maintenance Manual section 1000.005.00. Federal Regulation 42 CFR-435.608 requires that applicants for and recipients of MO HealthNet for Aged, Blind, and Disabled (MHABD), Supplemental Nursing Care (SNC), and Supplemental Pension (SP) must take all actions needed to acquire annuities, pensions, retirement, and disability benefits to which they are entitled; unless they can show good cause for not doing so.
Do not approve an application for MHABD, SNC, or SP without the required verification that an applicant has applied for other benefits for which they are potentially eligible. Until enhancements to FAMIS are completed, follow the steps outlined in the manual to pend MHABD, SNC, and SP applications for required verification of application for other benefits.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
- Do not approve an application for MHABD, SNC, or SP without the required verification that an applicant has applied for other benefits for which they are potentially eligible.
