DISCUSSION:
Due to the increase in the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) income guidelines that is effective April 1, 2013, the monthly income levels as a percent of poverty has increased. Because of these higher income standards, coverage for children in some households will change to a lower CHIP premium group. See section 0900.00.00 APPENDIX E the MO HealthNet for Kids - CHIP Premium Chart.
On the weekend of March 09, 2013, FAMIS adjusted active cases based on the new FPL income guidelines. Premium amounts will be updated to reflect a change in the amount payable for children whose coverage will change to a lower CHIP premium group.
The MO HealthNet Division will issue refunds to households who paid their premium and whose coverage changes to a lower CHIP premium group. Households will receive a refund check along with a notice of explanation for refund. Questions concerning premiums should be referred to the Premium Collections Unit at 1-877-888-2811.
Premium changes for the annual July premium update will be announced by separate memorandum.
