4.7.2 FST Meeting Purpose

 

FST meetings are intended to:

  • Be held at critical times when decisions need to be made.
  • Create an environment of team collaboration, encouraging and valuing the input of each participant.
  • Recognize the strengths of families and involve each family member in the decision-making process.
  • Be agenda-driven and tailored to each family’s circumstances.
  • Be forward focused on next steps to maintain continuous progress.
  • Create a process flow to gather information à assess information à make a decision à identify and assign next steps à

Family Support Team Members must:

  • Align all decisions with the child’s best interests.
  • Ensure actions are taken timely to achieve family safety, stability and permanency.
  • Address barriers which delay finalization of the child’s permanency goal.
