4.7.2 FST Meeting Purpose
FST meetings are intended to:
- Be held at critical times when decisions need to be made.
- Create an environment of team collaboration, encouraging and valuing the input of each participant.
- Recognize the strengths of families and involve each family member in the decision-making process.
- Be agenda-driven and tailored to each family’s circumstances.
- Be forward focused on next steps to maintain continuous progress.
- Create a process flow to gather information à assess information à make a decision à identify and assign next steps à
Family Support Team Members must:
- Align all decisions with the child’s best interests.
- Ensure actions are taken timely to achieve family safety, stability and permanency.
- Address barriers which delay finalization of the child’s permanency goal.
