0955.000.00 Medical Assistance for Children in Care (MACC)

0955.015.15 Children From Active Cases Transferring to MACC

When a child enters an eligible MACC living arrangement through DMH/DYS/Juvenile Court placement and is already in active Medicaid status, the caseworker will:

  1. Child receiving MAF (with or without Temporary Assistance) or MC+ for children
    1. Have parent, guardian, or custodial agency sign MACC application in accordance with procedures in Section 0955.010.00 Medicaid Coverage (MACC).
    2. Complete an application/eligibility statement form based on MAF criteria used for MACC.
    3. Establish eligibility for MACC and follow procedures for application in Section 0955.015.10 Initial Application Processing (MACC).
    4. Send IM-80 regarding the removal of the child from the Temporary Assistance cash grant, if applicable. An IM-80 is also required for MAF or MC+ for children, if the child’s removal from the assistance group results in ineligibility of a parent or sibling for Medicaid/MC+.
    5. Remove the child from the MAF/MC+ case and Temporary Assistance cash grant, if applicable.
  2. Child receiving MA
    1. Have parent, guardian, or custodial agency sign MACC application in accordance with procedures in Section 0955.010.00 Medicaid Coverage (MACC).
    2. Complete an application/eligibility statement form based on MAF criteria used for MACC.
    3. Establish eligibility for MACC and follow procedures for applications in Section 0955.015.10 Initial Application Processing (MACC).
    4. Close MA case and open MACC case.
