Work registration is required for individuals over age 15 and under age 60 (ages 16-59) unless the individual is exempt from work requirements. Work registration is the registration of job ready, non-exempt, household members for employment. Household members are considered registered for work and meet the federal work registration requirement when they have been assigned the appropriate employment assessment code.

Assess all household members at every application, reapplication and when changes to income are reported to determine their current work registration status. The individual who signs the application must provide information on all household members over the age of 15 and under the age of 60 to determine work registrants, and registers all household members who are required to register for work.

Each time a new work assessment is completed, verbally review with the household to determine:

  • which participants are or may be subject to work requirements
  • if an exemption or exclusion exists
  • if the participant needs help looking for a job through SkillUP when an exemption or exclusion is not met
