In order to qualify for the Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB) program a participant must meet all eligibility requirements of the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) program except for the income limit. See MHABD Appendix J for current income and resource limits.
SLMB participants must have income of more than 100% but less than 135% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). The SLMB program has 2 groups of qualifying individuals. These programs are referred to as SLMB1 and SLMB2.
SLMB1 participants have income of more than 100%, but less than 120% of the FPL.
SLMB2 participants have income of more than 120%, but less than 135% of the FPL.
SLMB2 participants cannot receive MO HealthNet under any other type of assistance.
NOTE: Enrollment in Medicare Part A is a requirement for both QMB, SLMB1, and SLMB2. Conditional Part A Medicare is only granted to those who are potentially eligible for the QMB program. SLMB will not pay for Medicare Part A. See 0865.010.05.15 Part A Conditional Enrollment.
