Participants claiming an exemption from work activities are given five business days to provide documentation supporting their claim. The evidence supporting their exemption is sent to FSD MWAPERSONAL@dss.mo.gov.
Exemptions include:
- Payee is age 60 or over
- Custodial parent of a child 12 weeks of age or younger
- The second parent in a two-parent household is mandatory to participate in work activities unless they meet a different exemption.
- Claiming or receiving permanent or total disability and have applied for, or are receiving, Old Age Survivor’s and Disability Insurance (OASDI) benefits, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits, Supplemental Security Disability Income (SSDI) benefits, or are disabled as determined by the state Medical Review Team
- Caretaker needed in the home to care for a disabled household member who has a physical or mental disability.
