ENERGY ASSISTANCE PRESS RELEASE
DISCUSSION:
A copy of the press release about this year's start-up of the Energy Assistance is attached to this memorandum.  This was sent to newspapers and radio stations throughout Missouri.  County offices may receive questions and referrals as a result of publication of this press release.

For your information, 99,573 Missouri households received Energy Assistance during the winter of 2001-2002.  The average grant amount was $185.00.

County offices that need additional statistical information about the Energy Assistance program, should contact the Energy Assistance Unit in Central Office, at 573-751-0472.
NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
  • Use information in this memorandum and the attached press release to answer questions.
