IM-20  02/27/02  CLARIFICATION OF FOOD STAMP CANCEL REJECT POLICY

SUBJECT:
CLARIFICATION OF FOOD STAMP CANCEL REJECT POLICY

DISCUSSION:
Timely food stamp applications may only be cancel rejected when the household fails to take required action and the applicant subsequently provides required verification or takes the required action.  Refer to memorandum IM-#124, dated July 09, 2001.  Use FSU5 reason codes 10, 11, and 12 when rejecting a timely food stamp application because the household failed to provide information needed to determine eligibility or benefit amount.  Applications rejected using reason codes 10, 11, and 12 are the only applications the system will allow the entry of code 06 in FREJ to cancel reject the application.

NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
