EBT LANGUAGE CODES; EBT MANUAL UPDATE; GENERAL INFORMATION MANUAL REVISION #31; SECTION 0150.065.05
DISCUSSION:
Memorandum IM-97 dated 08/01/02 required staff to enter appropriate language preference codes in EBTU for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP) until the common area was revised to capture this information.  As of June 1, 2003, the LEP language preference indicator is captured in the common area.

Effective immediately, only E (English) and S (Spanish) are acceptable language codes in EBTU.  The language field in EBTU defaults to E when a record is set up.  Enter S to have EBT training materials sent in Spanish.  Codes other than E and S entered 8/5/02 or later must be changed to E or S the next time EBTU is updated.

The EBTU Data Entry instructions are updated online.  A hard copy is not being provided.
NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Discuss this memorandum with all appropriate staff.
  • Use only E and S as language codes on EBTU
