IM-68  05/29/03  VERIFICATION OF EXCLUDED RESOURCES

VERIFICATION OF EXCLUDED RESOURCES
DISCUSSION:
Verification of excluded resources is not routinely required for the Food Stamp Program.  However, there are circumstances when verification may be needed to determine if the resource is excluded.  For example, real property is excluded if there is proof of a good faith effort to sell.  In the past the resource was automatically excluded in FAMIS if the good faith indicator was "Y", even if a verification code was not entered. 

Effective immediately, if verification is needed to determine if a resource may be excluded, leave the verification field blank when entering the resource in FAMIS.  When the eligibility determination is run, the PEND code displays on the Supercase Eligibility Unit Summary (FM30) screen.  The screen displays:

When the verification is received, update the information and enter the verification code on the resource screen.  If all requested verification is entered, re-run the eligibility determination.

  •  Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
