DEMAND LETTER FOR OVERISSUANCE (CARS-3) REVISIONS |
DISCUSSION: |
Effective October 1, 2004, demand letters for food stamp overissuance have been revised to include suspected program violation and compromising claims policies introduced in Memorandum IM-#100, dated September 28, 2004. The DEMAND LETTER FOR OVERISSUANCE (CARS-3) has been revised as follows:
Suspected Program Violation The suspected program violation notice has been revised to inform the household that the overissuance is a suspected program violation and that the Welfare Investigation Unit (WIU) will review the case. Compromise The notice for agency error and inadvertent household error claims has been revised to inform the household we may be able to reduce the amount owed. The household is instructed to contact the county office to request a reduction of claim amount. Follow instructions in Memorandum IM-#100 for processing these requests. Repayment Agreement The household is notified in the repayment agreement that the next monthly payment is due one month from the date of the agreement and each month on the same day. The revised demand letters are attached in PDF format. |
