SUBJECT: 
ENTERING SOCIAL SECURITY INCOME IN IMU5 SYSTEM;
FORMS MANUAL REVISION #1:  IMU5, APPENDIX D
DISCUSSION: 
Due to ongoing problems that occur when processing the Social Security COLA each year, the IMU5 system will no longer allow entry of income type '04' without entry of a Social Security income amount.  The following edit which will occur when Social Security income is noted in Field 25 (INC) of the IMU5 system and none is shown in Field 13J for individuals.

Error C 451 INCOME TYPE '04' ENTERED BUT NO SS INCOME AMOUNT FOUND IN FIELD 13J FOR INDIVIDUALS OR SS INCOME DOES NOT MATCH (Field 13J, Field 34, Field 41).

This edits occurs when:

  • Field 25 (INC) of the IMU5 reflects "04" (SSA Only) and no SSA income is shown in Field 13J for individuals.  (All categories)
  • Field 25 (INC) of the IMU5 reflects "04" (SSA Only) and SSA income shown in Field 13J for individuals does not total the net income shown in Field 34 and gross income in Field 41 of the IMU5.  (TOA C cases only)
NECESSARY ACTION: 
  • Review this memorandum with all appropriate staff.
  • File the revised pages with IMU5 instructions in the Forms Manual.
