MEMORANDUM
2004 Memorandums
IM-97      09/17/04
SUBJECT:
TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FAMILIES WITH SSI MEMBERS
DISCUSSION:
Currently in Legacy staff are not able to show any SSI member on the Temporary Assistance case. This results in a case which does not correctly reflect the household, only the assistance group. As FAMIS is based on a supercase which is all the members living at a single address not a single eligibility unit (EU), the SSI member will not be correctly listed using current practices.

When staff begin taking Temporary Assistance applications in FAMIS the individual who receives SSI (head of household or household member) will be placed in the Temporary Assistance EU and given an eligibility unit member role of “IN” on the Application Detail screen (FM13). During the controlled flow as staff enter the SSI income on this individual FAMIS will automatically change the role of “IN” to a role of “IC” with reason of SSI. This will more accurately capture the Temporary Assistance EU.

During the conversion process staff will have to add any SSI individual back to the Temporary Assistance EU. A Manual Conversion Guide is being prepared to assist staff in this process and will be released closer to the Temporary Assistance conversion.

NECESSARY ACTION:
  • Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
