2005 FOOD STAMP OUTREACH PROGRAM WITH H&R BLOCK
DISCUSSION:
During the 2005 tax season, H&R Block tax preparation offices in Missouri will provide clients with food stamp applications, local contact information, and brief instructions on filing an application. H&R Block staff will identify a client’s potential eligibility for food stamps through the tax preparation program. The program measures client’s annual gross income against the Federal Poverty Guidelines.Along with the food stamp application, the client will receive:
- The Missouri food stamp hotline number: 1-800-392-1261.
- The Missouri Web link to information on food stamps: www.dss.mo.gov/.
- A Block Advantage advice one-page summary of the Food Stamp Program that has brief instructions on starting the application process.
If clients have other questions, H&R Block staff will tell them to contact the information sources provided. Clients will be responsible for completing and submitting the applications to the appropriate local office.
Handle incomplete applications following current policy for mailed-in or dropped off applications (refer to Applications Mailed to the Office).
