SUBJECT:
FAMILY MEDICAL ASSISTANCE FAMIS PILOT
DISCUSSION:
Family Medical Assistance (FAM) is scheduled to be piloted in FAMIS in Howell County beginning November 13, 2006. The purpose of the pilot is to ensure that the new system model is ready to be implemented and to ensure all processes are running smoothly. In order to have a successful pilot, the system must have a stable environment. To ensure the success of the pilot, it is imperative that no Family Medical Assistance (FAM) cases be converted to FAMIS during the pilot, and no Family Medical Assistance (FAM) applications be registered in FAMIS until further notice. The only exceptions are:
- the case is in Howell County;
- the EU was converted in Howell County and moved out of the county;
- the EU moves to Howell County; or
- an EU in another county is adding a person who was already converted in Family Medical Assistance to FAMIS in Howell County.
State Office staff will be monitoring the Manual Conversion List (MCL) daily to ensure Family Medical Assistance (FAM) cases that should not be converted are not converted into FAMIS. If a case is placed on the MCL, and it is not a Howell County case, State Office staff will remove the “Y” to convert the case. State Office staff will also monitor Family Medical Assistance (FAM) applications taken in FAMIS. State Office staff will contact county and regional administration to determine if there is a reason the case should have been converted or the application taken. Staff will be notified when Family Medical Assistance (FAM) cases can be converted and new applications can be taken in FAMIS.
When Family Medical Assistance (FAM) is migrated to FAPC on November 6, 2006, staff will notice some screen changes. A series of memorandums will be issued soon to discuss these changes.
NECESSARY ACTION:
- Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
- Do not convert Family Medical Assistance (FAM) cases in FAMIS unless it is a Howell County application or case until further notice.
