SUBJECT: | FOOD STAMP PAMPHLET “FOOD STAMP WORK REQUIREMENT - ABLED BODIED ADULTS WITHOUT DEPENDENTS” |
DISCUSSION:
Work requirement is a policy that requires abled bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs) to work or participate in a training program for 20 hours per week. The IM-4ABAWD, “Food Stamp Work Requirement - Abled Bodied Adults Without Dependents” pamphlet advises eligibility units (EUs) subject to the 18 to 50 year old work requirement of the policy and consequences of not meeting work requirement.
The pamphlet discusses the following points:
identifies EU members subject to the policy;
identifies exemptions;
identifies activities that meet work requirement;
informs the EU is limited to 3 months in 36 months while not meeting work requirement;
informs the EU of what constitutes a non-work month; and
- informs the EU how to regain eligibility.
Give this pamphlet to all EUs with a member who is subject to work requirement at application, re-application, or when a change occurs that makes an EU member subject to work requirement.
An initial supply of the pamphlet is being sent to all county offices. This pamphlet may be reordered from the warehouse using normal ordering procedures.
