- 2013 SEBTC DEMONSTRATION PROJECT SUMMARY
DISCUSSION:
Income Maintenance Memorandum #51, dated May 24, 2013, discussed the 2013 Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer for Children (SEBTC) demonstration project. During 2013, the SEBTC project in Missouri included the children whom participated last year from three school districts in Kansas City and the St Louis school district. This year, more than 8,600 school-age children, eligible for free or reduced school lunches, from the two project areas received SEBTC benefits.
The following information summarizes the 2013 SEBTC Demonstration Project:
- Children who participated last year were automatically reinstated, unless the child became ineligible for 2013.
- No additional children were added this year if they didn't receive benefits last year.
End of 2013 project statistics for Kansas City project area:
- 3998 children in 2243 households received SEBTC benefits.
- The total amount of benefits issued was $616,640.
- $569,679.15 was spent. This is 92.4% of benefits issued.
End of 2013 project statistics for St Louis project area:
- 4672 children in 2963 households received SEBTC benefits.
- The total amount of benefits issued was $739,560.
- $660,829.65 was spent. This is 89.4% of benefits issued.
This was the last year for the SEBTC Demonstration Project; there will not be a project or benefits for 2014. We appreciate all who assisted with this project. We are pleased to have been able to provide additional EBT benefits during the summer months to many St. Louis and Kansas City children.
