IM-017 MAGI Verification Procedures for Adding Newborn Coverage

DISCUSSION:

This memorandum introduces updates to MAGI Policy manual sections, Adding the Newborn 1860.010.05 and Verification of Birth 1860.010.15. The updates remove the requirement to request verification of the birth of a child before beginning Newborn (NWB) coverage (ME 60).

The birth of the child must be reported before Newborn (NWB) coverage can begin. Accept self-attestation as verification of the child’s birth.

Adding a Newborn 1860.010.05 has been revised to include an updated list of information needed when the birth of a newborn is reported.

• Review this memorandum with appropriate staff.
