0865.010.00 Eligibility Requirements

There are three general eligibility requirements for the QMB program. To be eligible for the program, an individual must:

  1. be enrolled in Part A Medicare (hospital insurance)
  2. have income not exceeding the QMB standard of 100% of the Federal Poverty Level for assistance group size; and
  3. have resources not exceeding the QMB resource maximums

Additionally, the QMB applicant must also meet the MHABD general eligibility requirements of:

  • citizenship/alien status
  • residency
  • Social Security number
